Kathy Scherer, PhD, MFT is a Psychologist and educator working with individuals and families in Austin Texas for over 25 years. She is a psychotherapist in private practice and offers presentations on topics such as interpersonal neurobiology, family attachments, social-emotional development, and stress management. She has advanced training in family systems, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, yoga therapeutics, and meditation. Her workshops have been offered at a wide variety of settings including universities, professional organizations, schools, and community centers. 

In collaboration with Dr. Sylvester of Austin Child Therapy, they have launched the Heart & Work series of writings, presentations, and workshops. They co-edit two collaborative mental health blogs:  1) Therapy Matters: Mental health experts writing on matters of the heart and mind (co-editor Richard Holt, PhD), and 2) Heart & Work of Parenting.

Dr. Scherer is a co-founder of Austin IN Connection a multidisciplinary organization whose mission is to facilitate mental health and well-being of individuals and families. She is also the founder of the Family Matters community outreach program.  She has studied extensively with the Mindsight Institute and the Brazelton Touchpoints Center. In addition, she is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) with advanced training in the therapeutic applications of yoga and meditation.  She is a faculty member for the Yoga Therapy Training Program at Yoga Yoga Austin.
